My name is Roy Quick. I am a blood-bought, born-again child of God. This is an extraordinary statement considering the life I’ve lived. I was married at 18 and had two children. I didn’t take my family to church, and if I led them anywhere, it was in the wrong direction. At 27, I left my wife and kids and started to party pretty hard. I got my second DWI and was sentenced to five years in prison. I embraced the outlaw lifestyle and started using meth, womanizing, and developed a pretty violent side. Since then, I’ve been in and out of prison six times for various crimes.
In 2022, I was arrested for a parole violation and sent back to prison. While incarcerated, I started to consider my life and how it got so far out of control. I began going to church, reading my Bible, and praying often. I was tired of the devastation and chaos I left everywhere I went. I wanted to know Jesus, but I thought I was too far gone. 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
On March 3rd, 2023, I gave my life to Christ and was saved. I left that old man at the altar. I was released from prison on September 18th, 2023, and came to Freeway. The men and women of Freeway welcomed me right away and have poured into me since that first day. I am within a month of finishing my commitment and have an entirely new perspective on life. I have become house leader, and I get to guide the men in my house and have the privilege of watching them grow in Christ.
I used to take all I could from people, and now I find joy in loving and serving others. God has changed my heart, and I pray daily that He will use me for His glory. God uses Freeway to help guide men and women to an obedient and faithful lifestyle, and I am truly blessed to be a part of it. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
