Joe Walters’ Testimony

My name is Joe Walters. I am a 7 time convicted felon with 16 years in prison – from 18-34. I have struggled with addiction to meth since I was 13 years old.

In 2015, God made a direct intervention in my life. I ended up sitting in Greene County jail with a class A possession with intent to distribute, and 2 probation violations out of 2 different counties. Filled with shame, remorse, and guilt, I refused to turn to God.

I ended up with a 14 year sentence and ended up in Bowling Green prison for my 6th time in prison, and God began to work on my heart. In 2017 I made a decision to give my whole heart to God. Jeremiah 29:13 “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with your whole heart.” I received an outdate for May 13th, 2019. I found a service and started to learn all I could about God.

On April 13th, 2019 I got told I had lost my grandmother. I was 30 days from my scheduled release and I could remember her praying for me at night. This led me to Marshfield Freeway ministries and to Crossbridge Baptist church.

Today God has given me a purpose to serve and has been gracious enough to use me in an unimaginable way. Today I have a job, I get to serve as Freeway ministries discipleship men’s house leader, and I get to serve on the Crossbridge transportation team.

God has held true to his word. Ephesians 3:20 “Now unto him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power that worketh in us.” I am extremely excited to see what else God has for me. He carried my sins on his shoulders to the cross and suffered for me and you.
